U groove rear snake sight
This review is on the HD-020-U rear sight blade.
Shipping was very fast and packaging was excellent.
Product quality is outstanding. This is exactly what “should” have been stock on a firearm of this stature. It looks right and is very robust in comparison to the stock rear sight blade.
Fitting for my specific gun was very easy and took about 45 minutes. I used 600 grit paper to bevel the edges as clearly described in the fitting instructions. I had to remove a touch under .002” along the dovetail front and this is what took the bulk of the time. A few swipes, test, swipes, test until it slide easily through the channel. I then soaked the sight in acetone, dried it and cold blued where bare metal from sanding and filing were present.
Assembly, again, was as described in the instructions. A light coat of oil applied for final fit followed by a dry cloth wipe down and I’m back in business.
If you’re on the fence between this option or a major competitor’s version but don’t want their name stamped right on the top of your Colt rear sight, go with this option. The opened up radius is incredible for super fast sight acquisition especially with your choice of front sights.
