Fits all Springfield Armory 1911 pistols with round top slides, including EMP and Prodigy and some Dan Wesson 1911s (see Dan Wesson section)
The Springfield Armory 1911s equipped with a factory cut front sight dovetail require a front sight with the correctly dimensioned and engineered dovetail to fit properly. The best front night sight on the market is made by Harrison Design and I am pleased to offer it to compliment my rear sight product line.
The HD front night sights are machined from hardened steel and equipped with a green Trijicon tritium lamp, surrounded by either a Lumi-Green or Brite Orange ring to enhance daylight visibility. They are offered in the height of .180", which is the standard height found on most Springfield 1911s.
These sights are offered in two blade widths, .125" and .145". The .145" wide front sight blades are recommended to used with our "WU" ("wide U notch") rear sights, which have a .170" width. Our standard rear sights having a .140" should be used with the .125" front sights.
Important Note: Please read the "Do I need a new front sight" topic located in all of the sight category sections for details on how to select the correct height for your pistol.
Springfield EMP 3" pistols need a .140" tall front sight to utilize the .325" tall OEM rear sight. If you want to use one of the .180" tall front sights with the green or orange rings, you will need to replace the rear sight with one that is .350" tall - my HD-004.5 family of sights. This is what is on the EMP-4" pistols and they work great on the EMP-3".
NOTICE - When you receive your new tritium sight, take it into a dark place and confirm that it glows in the dark. If it does not glow, I will exchange it, prior to installation.
After the sight has been installed, if it does not glow, the lamp has been damaged by installation. You will have to send the sight to Trijicon for replacement.
