Please Read: Sights are not "drop-in" parts, especially for 1911 pistols. There are so many companies, large and small, manufacturing 1911 pistols today and they all have different ideas about dimensional consistency in the sight cut. The only way after-market sight manufacturers can provide you with sights is to manufacture their sights and hold their dimensions on the high side of the range commonly encountered. This means that to install sights on 1911s, you often have to "fit" the sight to the sight cut by finding the surface on the sight that is too big and filing it down until the sight can be installed and still fit tightly. Sometimes it's more than a single surface that has to be fitted. There are instructions for fitting and installation as well as zeroing and calculating sight height in the Instructions tab on the home page. Please be aware of what you are undertaking and if you want some help, reach out to me for installation service. The cost is reasonable and the turnaround time is quick.
Many nice 1911s have been retired from service due to broken adjustable sights or never used in concealed carry because the adjustable sights were too delicate. Now there's a rear sight on the market that solves those problems, the Harrison Design HD-001. CAD designed to fit the popular mounting cuts for the BoMar BMCS sight, the HD-001 will fit either the Standard cut, or the Deluxe "Pocket" cut. It allows the owner of an existing 1911, equipped with a low mounted BoMar BMCS rear sight, the option of replacing it with an Extreme Service fixed rear sight with features better suited to tactical and self defense use. This is accomplished by the unique two-piece design, which allows the HD-001 to be mounted in both the"Deluxe" box cut as well as the "Standard" open cut. The rugged hidden lug joining the dovetail base to the sight body makes this sight more than adequate for hard-use service. Sharp, snaggy corners have been eliminated by the fully radiused design. The forward face of the blade has a squared-off shoulder that allows properly trained personnel, one-handed operation for malfunction clearance. Faster target acquisition is possible, thanks to a wider rear notch of .140" wide x .125" tall, allowing more visible light into sight picture. The sight’s design allows a minimum of .030"windage adjustment in each direction, creating the ability to correct for roughly 3" of error at 20 yards. Equipped with genuine Trijicon tritium lamp in T1 configuration for "over & under" sight picture. CNC machined from bar stock and Made inthe USA!
